The 2025 Riverwalk Call to Artists celebrated Riverwalk and downtown Fort Lauderdale

Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale celebrates local artists and the beautiful work they provide. Artists were asked to share their view of the areas for activities both active and passive, architecture, water events and more.

Two-dimensional and three -dimensional artwork of all mediums were invited to participate in the competition, including but not limited to watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, charcoal, mixed media, drawing and gouache. The winning artwork was featured on the cover of July 2025 issue of Go Riverwalk Magazine.

“Riverwalk celebrates our local artist and art in public places. These artist and their talents, gift our city with cultural beauty.” says Genia Duncan Ellis, President/CEO of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale.”

The River walk is a 2.5-mile brick walk on both sides of the New River, meandering through Downtown Fort Lauderdale . The Downtown Riverwalk District includes 10 parks as well as a lush tropical
waterfront in the downtown center of an urban metropolis.

35th Anniversary – Call to Artists

Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2023, and to mark the occasion, Riverwalk invites artists to share their view of the Riverwalk.

Two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork of all mediums are invited to participate in the competition, including but not limited to watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, charcoal, mixed media, drawing and gouache. The winning artwork will grace the cover of a future issue of Go Riverwalk Magazine.

Artists, no matter where they live, are invited to submit their original artwork by Monday, October 2, 2023, to the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale office at 888 E. Las Olas Blvd., Suite 201, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The artwork must depict Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk.

The competition will be judged by a local juried panel. The winner will be notified in October and will be required to be photographed and interviewed for a story in Go Riverwalk Magazine.

Each submission must have attached to the artwork:

  • Title of artwork
  • Full name of artist
  • Address of artist (street address, city, state, ZIP code)
  • Email address
  • Daytime/cell phone number

“Riverwalk has celebrated notable anniversaries in the past by asking artists to share their depictions of Riverwalk,” says Genia Duncan Ellis, President/CEO of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale. “We want to help celebrate our organization’s 35th anniversary in a similar way this year.”
