Eight artists who have been touched by mental health issues, either directly or indirectly, will present their thought-provoking works in the East Gallery from July 5, 2019 through August 30, 2019. There is an opening reception, free to the public, on Friday, July 5 from 6pm to 10pm during Old Town Untapped. For more information www.baileyarts.org.

Curated by Katya Nepture, beautifully broken features the artwork of Kim Noble, Mariangela Abeo, Gregory Dirr, Daniel Garcia, Katya Neptune, Keith Welsh, Tim Bliss, Adam Dolle.

The exhibition explores the impact that mental health is having on society and the role the arts can play to both encourage positive self-expression and guide effective mental health promotion. beautifully broken examines creative responses to mental health conditions through the inclusion of artworks made by artists who have been diagnosed or those who have been indirectly affected by these conditions.

The exhibition highlights a variety of techniques and forms that include innovative art expressions rooted in traditional craft materials, as well as art that explores unexpected relationships between craft and painting, silk screen, sculpture, conceptual and art installations.

The event will also feature spoken word artists Stacy the Kid and Becky Talbot, along with performance artists Ashleigh Bremser, Wild Beast Collective/Jenny Larson.
