Art Gallery 21, in partnership with the City of Wilton Manors, Central Area Neighborhood Association of Wilton Manors, The Pride Center at Equality Park, Stonewall Museum & Archive and The Humanity Project, will host “Wilton Manors Works,” an interactive event that aims to increase awareness of the LGBT work experience.
“Wilton Manors Works” celebrates the anticipated arrival of the traveling Smithsonian exhibit “The Way We Worked,” which examines the strength and spirit of American workers. Art Gallery 21 was selected as a host site through a grant provided by The Florida Humanities Council and Museums on Main Street, a partnership with Smithsonian Institution and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The event will feature an exhibit of photos submitted by the public at 7 p.m., followed by a story slam, hosted by Carbonell Award-winning playwright Michael McKeever, at 7:30 p.m. Digital photo submissions must be a minimum size of 6×4 at 300 DPI and may be sent via email to artgallery21wcwm@gmail.com. Print photos can be mailed to City Hall, 2020 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, FL 33305, Attn: Art Gallery 21. The deadline to submit photos is Tuesday, February 28. Story slam participants will be selected at random on the night of the event, and provided 7 minutes to tell their story.
