Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida opens its Spring season with Dr. Ouch!, a vibrant and humorous ballet in two acts choreographed by Vladimir Issaev. Inspired by the beloved children’s poems of Russian author Kornei Chukovsky, the ballet follows the kind and quirky Doctor Ouch as he travels to Africa to cure a group of sick monkeys. Dr. Ouch will also be performed at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center from March 7-8.
Set to an engaging score by Morozov, Lecoque, and Kabalevsky, this delightful production features a cast of outstanding professional dancers joined by young and talented performers. Along his journey, Doctor Ouch and his companions face wild and whimsical adventures—most notably when they are captured by a crew of silly and mischievous pirates, led by the notorious Pirate Barmalei!
With imaginative costumes by Jorge Gallardo and spirited choreography that brings the story to life without words, Dr. Ouch! delivers joy, laughter, and energy to the stage.
Part of Arts Ballet Theatre’s acclaimed Family Series, this production is a perfect introduction to ballet for young audiences—and a heartwarming and entertaining experience for all ages.
