“Marking the Moments”, a new body of work by Artist, LuRu, is based on conversations with a range of local, cultural communities about their approach to seasonal change and ritual.

This exhibit of multilayered, LED color shifting paintings will explore our community’s diverse cultural rituals and traditions that celebrate the changing of seasons. Utilizing a blend of representational and abstract painting styles, they form a narrative of nature and spirituality. The tiered painting techniques combines with shifting LED lighting to echo the perceptual changes of our environment or reveal different practices centered around the same season.  As the light changes, so too, does the compositional emphasis. The same canvas contains multiple images within the composition that are highlighted as the light changes. These artworks will bring the community’s traditions to life, using vivid imagery and symbolism to capture the essence of how people honor the seasonal changes.
