United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention’s Broward Youth Coalition (BYC) will host its annual Youth Leadership Institute (YLI), virtually on Tuesday, June 13 (via Zoom), and in-person on Thursday, June 15 at Nova Southeastern University (NSU).
- This FREE, 2-Day FUN youth leadership summit for 7th graders through high school graduating seniors will focus on mental health promotion, public speaking, youth advocacy, and substance use prevention. The 2-part event will feature special guests, several peer-to-peer sessions, prizes and more!
- The virtual event on Day 1 (June 13) will include Part 1 of both the peer-to-peer sessions and The Power of Poetry Workshop.
- The in-person event on Day 2 (June 15) will feature keynote interactive speaker, The Self Esteem Doctor, and a public speaking workshop where participants will discover how to authentically connect with others when presenting via a series of fun & proven techniques. The day will also feature Part 2 of both the peer-to-peer sessions and The Power of Poetry Workshop.
- Participants will have the chance to earn community service hours and participate in fun ways for a chance to earn special prizes and giveaways. Event sponsors include United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention, Broward Behavioral Health Coalition, Florida Department of Children and Families, Memorial Healthcare System, and Hanley Foundation.
