The second annual Women Empower Expo (WEX) will take place at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center on October 7, 2017. WEX is a one-day event dedicated to women entrepreneurship and features keynote talks, workshops, panels, breakout sessions, a pitch competition, networking lounge, woman-owned marketplace, author book signing, wellness events, and more.

“The purpose of WEX is to empower and equip women entrepreneurs and change leaders to create and grow successful businesses by providing knowledge, tools, and a community of peers, mentors, and partnership opportunities,” says WEX founder Alexa Carlin.

Past events in Washington D.C. and Fort Lauderdale hosted thousands of attendees from diverse backgrounds and industries, ranging from women looking to start a business or seek funding for an existing business or idea, to seasoned female entrepreneurs running multiple ventures.

Participants learn from industry experts and female leaders, network with entrepreneurs and change-makers, discover tools and strategies for taking their businesses to the next level, and connect with a like-minded community. Breakout sessions and classes feature everything from digital marketing training to wellness and work-life balance events.

WEX will showcase a competitive Pitch Event, sponsored by Florida Angel NEXUS, Withum, and StartUp Nation Ventures. Entrepreneurs seeking funding are invited to apply for the chance to be selected to pitch her product, idea, or business to a panel of judges at the event. All ten finalists will receive a comprehensive written assessment from the expert panel of judges, brand exposure among the thousands of event attendees, and press coverage, along with mentorship and funding opportunities. The winner will also be awarded:

• A $1000 cash prize
• An opportunity to pitch to accredited investors in the Florida Angel Nexus statewide network
