Over 136,000 Floridians survived a TBI.  A TBI can be sustained from falls, fights, playground injuries, car crashes, bike accidents, work injuries, sport injury as well as other activities that cause bruising, bleeding, shearing or swelling to the brain. Soldiers, athletes, toddlers, teenagers and grandparents are impacted the most.

Since 1985 Brain Injury Association of Florida, Inc. (BIAF) has remained the statewide heart and home for Florida’s brain injury community. It’s where the promise, By Your Side™ is kept. It’s where education and counseling restore hope. It’s where prevention from further brain injury is taught. It is the place where we believe no one should have to fend for themselves after a diagnosis of traumatic brain injury (TBI).

The BIAF is committed to both local and statewide advocacy. BIAF works diligently with advocates to raise awareness about brain injury, survivors, and their families, amongst lawmakers and the public.

WalkAbout Brain Injury is our way of raising awareness and involving survivors and their families in local communities throughout Florida. The Walk started in Tallahassee in 2014 with less than 50 people.  WalkAbout has grown to 4 cities and over 1,200 participants in just a few years.  Our goal is to spread the WalkAbout across the state and bring awareness about brain injury to thousands each year.  BIAF Contact: walkabout@biaf.org or call 1-877-342-GIVE (4483)
