Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club
The Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club will host award winning film makers from the Miami/Fort Lauderdale – 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP), at the clubhouse located at 20 S. Andrews, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 on Thursday, October 20. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film presentation begins at 7 p.m.
The 48HFP is open to both professional and aspiring filmmakers, actors, and crew members. The local contest is part of a global competition in which groups compete for the chance to win a $5,000 grand prize, and the opportunity to screen their film at Filmapalooza and at the Cannes International Film Festival’s Short Film Corner.
Each film team is assigned a character, prop, and line of dialogue that has to be incorporated into their project. Each team then has forty-eight hours to write, direct and shoot. Our showcase will feature top rated films from this year and previous year’s competition. Team members will be available for a Q & A period between film showings.
Team 1310 Bandits and Team leader Tabatha Mudra will represent South Florida at the International 48HFP Best of the Best Festival Filmapalooza, in spring 2017.
The Miami/Fort Lauderdale 48HFP is produced by Cathleen Dean. The project is sponsored by Art Loft, WPBT2, MortgageGrants.Com, iDavid Photo, Aku/Akwa Tees, BlackCat Media, Budget Video, Professional Sound Services, Video Mix TV, Monster Energy and Chef Anthony.
The mission of 48 Hour Film Project is to facilitate the advancement of filmmaking and the promotion of filmmakers. The emphasis is on teamwork, building communities of local creative people and “doing” instead of “talking.” In one wild weekend of fun. In an effort to support local film maker’s the Woman’s Club will be asking for a $10 donation to go towards a 2017 Team Sponsorship. Free Popcorn and Popsicles will be included. Cash bar available.
