This event is in celebration of the life of Dr. Carter G. Woodson, known as the “Father of Black History” and the founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH). Attendees will learn about Dr. Woodson’s vision and mission for ASALH, which is to preserve and share US Black history. The mission and vision of the South Florida branch is the bridge the divide between the community and academia in black history education. This event is produced in collaboration with the Broward County Libraries, the African American Research Library and Cultural Center and The Spady Museum.
