Join us for the 18th anniversary virtual celebration of the Friends of the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) at Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.  We serve as ambassadors for AARLCC as we volunteer our time, resources, and fundraising efforts to support programming that informs our community about the history, culture and arts of African Americans and others of the African diaspora.

Our work is done in collaboration with the staff at AARLCC to co- sponsor several programs, including our signature events, the South Florida Book Festival and the Ashley Bryan Children’s Art series that brings over 300 children to AARLCC annually to experience black authors and artist of children’s books. Some of our other events include summer youth programs and Cultural Conversations, which is a program that features intellectual conversations with the nation’s leading thinkers and industry leaders, scholars, artists and others whose work celebrates and illuminates Black history and culture.

Without you, the Friends of AARLCC cannot continue its work at AARLCC.  In these challenging times, our communities must be informed about our history and prepared for our future. The programs provided locally or in a virtual space provide a venue for information and civil discourse.

Due to COVID-19 and in consideration for the health of our community,  we are having this year’s anniversary celebration virtually.  Please join us as we celebrate what you’ve done to make the Friends of AARLCC successful.
