Free Our Seas and Beyond is partnering with Broward County, Nova Southeastern University, the Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC) at the Carpenter House and the City of Hollywood to host the inaugural “Free Our Seas and Beyond Environmental Art Festival” on Saturday, April 21st beginning at 10:00 a.m to celebrate Earth Day.

Harnessing the power of ART to connect with the environment, to shine a light on solutions, and to inspire and educate as a way to create change is the mission of the festival. Art inspired by nature, as well as up-cycled and recycled environmentally themed pieces will be on display at MEEC at the historic Carpenter House, 4414 N Surf Road on Hollywood Beach. The goal of the festival is to highlight our connection with the ocean while raising awareness of the impact of single-use plastics on our marine life, waterways and beaches.

The festival kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with a community beach clean-up sponsored by the SURFRIDER Foundation of Broward County. From noon to 5:00 p.m. original and inspiring works of art will be on display for all to enjoy. The day’s festivities also include live musical performances, food trucks, children’s activities, environmentally friendly vendors, non-profit informational tables, a community art installation, photo booth and more. The must see event of the day is Captain the Sea Turtle’s lunchtime feeding!

Scheduled to appear: Chalk Muralist Carrie Bennett, Sand Sculptor John May, Captain Honk, Trashformation Award Winning Artist SusieQ, Alissa Alfonso, Lucinda Linderman, Free Our Seas artists and students from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, South Broward High School, Ft. Lauderdale High School, South Plantation High School, and Beachside Montessori Village.
