Join the Historic Stranahan House Museums Education and Curatorial Coordinator, Johnathan Axler, online for an in-depth look at Fort Lauderdale’s role in the Seminole Wars. Learn about the city’s namesake, Major William Lauderdale, and what it was like to be a soldier living in the area. Program will include a look at the weaponry, uniforms, and equipment utilized by the United States Army during the Second Seminole War.

History Happy Hours are the Historic Stranahan House Museum’s monthly education program for the community. These programs explore topics in greater detail as they relate to the Stranahan family, the historic site, South Florida, and the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Programs are currently all held virtually via Zoom. Advanced registration is required to receive log-in access.
