Fresh from helping accept Dire Straits induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, Alan Clark joins other original band members and friends from among some of rock’s greatest musicians in Dire Straits Legacy at Parker Playhouse on October 4 at 8 p.m.
Tickets are on sale for the evening of unforgettable Dire Straits classics including “Money for Nothing,” “So Far Away,” “Sultans of Swing” and “Walk of Life.”
Clark, who joined Dire Straits in 1980 as its first and main keyboard player and who performed on every record and tour thereafter until the band’s eventual breakup, is reunited with fellow Dire Straits musicians Mel Collins (Twisting by the Pool and Love Over Gold album and tour) and Phil Palmer and Danny Cummings (On Every Street album and world tour).
They are joined by Trevor Horn (The Buggles and the producer of countless chart toppers), Steve Ferrone (drummer with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Eric Clapton and David Bowie), Marco Caviglia (founder of Solid Rock) and Primiano Di Biase (keyboardist for Richard Bennett, Steve Phillips, Gigi Proietti and Neri Marcorè).
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame states that Dire Straits’ “introspective lyrics with out-of-this-world guitar and drum sounds made them one of the most original rock bands of the 80s.”
The concert at Parker Playhouse is presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and MusicWorks, Inc.
