Come From Away is based on the true story of what happened in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, in the days following September 11, 2001. When U.S. airspace was suddenly closed, 38 international planes were diverted to Gander, nearly doubling the town’s population overnight. This full-length show follows both the stranded passengers and the local residents who welcomed them with extraordinary generosity. Over five days, strangers from around the world formed deep connections as they navigated fear, uncertainty, and grief together. Told with music, humor, and heart, the production focuses less on the tragedy itself and more on themes of compassion, community, resilience, and shared humanity.
