Business for the Arts Broward’s (BFA) ongoing Arts Mean Business Speaker Series (AMB) continues virtually with a presentation and live Q&A with well-known spoken word artist, author, director and educator Darius V. Daughtry. Sponsored by Community Foundation of Broward’s James and Cathy Donnelly Family Fund, and The Castle Group. The Zoom event is free and open to the public.

Participants who wish to attend must email their RSVP to rvegas@bfabroward.org by Tuesday, May 11 to receive the invitation link.

With more than a decade of experience, Daughtry has been commissioned to write, perform and conduct workshops for various organizations including The Poetry Foundation; U.S. Naval Academy; O, Miami; City of Fort Lauderdale; Miami-Dade Schools; and Broward County Public Schools, among others.

Daughtry is also founder and artistic director of Art Prevails Project, a performing arts organization dedicated to expanding cultural conversation through theatrical performance, arts education and community engagement. He has spearheaded literacy initiatives with NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor and poet and actor, Omari Hardwick. He has also written and directed performances for numerous groups and organizations, such as ArtServe (RedEye), Broward Cultural Division (Sistrunk Market Place, State of Black Broward), Old Dillard Museum (Juneteenth, Kwanzaa), The World Aids Museum (Saving Grace) and more.

AMB is just one of several ways BFA supports local artists while fostering cultural vitality, creative success and economic development. BFA continuously supports the local arts community and promotes local artists, cultural non-profits and diverse art-related projects. BFA annually hosts several events in addition to AMB, including Art & Soul, Art in the Workplace, Art Curation and Art+Stroll.
