Honduran-born artist Emilio Martinez will discuss his perspective on migration and the psychological, economic and spiritual effects it has on those who pursue it. Martinez will elaborate on his current series History seen and corrected My American Me Experience.
Emilio Martinez was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1981 and immigrated with his family to Miami in 1994, where he has resided since. His work focuses on imagery of childhood memories manifested in his dreams. Martinez has ongoing contact with the spiritual world through icons, symbols and texts from an unknown past of ancient indigenous descendants. His work is represented in private and corporate collections in the US and abroad.
