The South Florida Book Festival and Literary Conference is coming on July 22 and 23, 2016 at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, along with a few branch libraries.
Bestselling authors Brenda Jackson, Erica Spindler and William Phelps will join business entrepreneur authors Miko Branch and Melba Wilson, Harlequin editor Glenda Howard, and a collection of prominent and upcoming authors.
There will be book talks, panel discussions, book readings, autograph sessions, writing and publishing workshops, genealogy seminars, a dating seminar, and a Kid Zone for families.
This event is sponsored by the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center and Literally Speaking Events, with assistance from the Broward Public Library Foundation and Holman Honda.


Friday evening, July 22 at 6:30PM, come to an “Evening with the Literary Stars” and book signing event. For $25 in advance or $30 at the door, guests can meet bestselling authors at a dress-up affair, with servings of hors d’oeuvres, wine and an autographed book of their choosing. Saturday, July 23 offers a day full of free activities, starting at 10:30AM with a fiction panel featuring dazzling crime author Erica Spindler and serial crime expert, and TV personality M. William Phelps.
Aspiring romance authors will learn about the book industry by attending a 1PM workshop on “Launching Your Career as a Romance Novelist” featuring Harlequin editor Glenda Howard with New York Times bestselling romance author Brenda Jackson and bestselling romance author Marcia Gamble.
At 11AM, a panel called “Women Entrepreneurs: How to Turn Your Passion into Prosperity” will feature Miko Branch, co-founder and CEO of Miss Jessie’s LLC and Melba Wilson, owner of the famous restaurant Melba’s and participant on the Food Network and The View.
Go “Under the Surface of Caribbean Life” at 12 noon with fiction authors MJ Fierve and Colin Channer. And self-marketers will love to attend “Learn How to Captivate Any Audience: Become a Strategic Storyteller” led by motivational speaker and business storytelling coach Andy Henriquez at 3PM. Also at 3PM, you will have the opportunity to attend a panel on dating titled: “Seven Types of Queens That Kings Desire,” featuring authors Kevin Dorival and Jeff Carroll.
Readers interested in politics, conspiracy theories and the power of social media will enjoy “American Conspiracy Theories and Tweeting to Power: A Fascinating Look at Presidential Politics” featuring Dr. Joseph E. Uscinski and Dr. Kevin Wagner at 12:30PM.
