An Evening by the Sea is the signature fundraising event for Friends of Birch State Park. This event honors key individuals whose efforts have enhanced Hugh Taylor Birch State Park for the enjoyment of residents and visitors; honorees include: Ken Evans, Camp Live Oak – Children’s Champion Award; Tyler Chappell, The Chappell Group – “Bring Birch Back!” Award; Linda Carter, Community Foundation of Broward – Community Leadership Award; and Joe and Wini Amaturo – Community Lifetime Achievement Award.

An Evening by the Sea is held in the home and on the lawn of Terramar, the oceanfront house built by Hugh Taylor Birch in 1940. The evening begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction followed by a live auction and award presentation.
