Join United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention, in collaboration with the Broward Behavioral Health Coalition and The Florida Department of Children & Families, for the 5th annual “Rompiendo Estigmas” Conference on Saturday, March 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Signature Grand.
The Conference, which will be presented in Spanish ONLY, will engage parents in a conversation about topics related to how to talk about mental health in an honest and direct way, how best to communicate directly and honestly with their children, and how to improve their self-esteem and relationships with others.
Other topics include how to manage stress, anxiety and depression; how to take care of the brain in adolescence; “prevent is protect” and the overall family well-being.
Special guests will include:
- Raúl González is a Venezuelan television presenter, actor, singer and producer. He started his career at the age of 5 and today he is one of the co-hosts of Univision’s “Despierta America” program. He is recognized for his involvement in the Latino community — always looking for a way to inspire them to move forward.
- Vicente Passariello is a life and business strategist, speaker, and a specialist in the transformation of the human being through Neuro-Linguistic Programming. He is a Certified Professional Communicator, learning from the best teachers such as Richard Bandler (co-creator of NLP), Tony Robbins (the greatest strategist in the world), Less Brown (international speaker), Deepak Chopra (Endocrinologist and speaker), among many more. He is the author of the book Sin Máscara (HarperCollins, 2018) and the book and audiobook 365 Affirmations For Your Inner Power. Additionally, Vicente is the Spanish voice of Tony Robbins’ product Ultimate Edge.
- Debbie Vainstein and Nora Avila will discuss “How to help a family member or a loved one when they are suffering from an episode of anxiety?” They will offer information that helps us understand what a person with anxiety is experiencing, how to recognize inappropriate behaviors, and will provide recommendations and key actions that can be effective.
- Susana Illera Martínez, writer and award-winning author, was recently selected by the Disney Editorial Group and Penguin Random House to publish El don de Una Familia / The Gift of Family; the first bilingual children’s book based on the movie Encanto.
Master of Ceremonies: Aurelio S. Figari, is a former professional soccer player, Master Trainer with Strong Nation, fitness educator and promoter of healthy lifestyles through physical care and mental health.
