Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is proud to announce the 20th Annual Riverwalk Tribute honoring Vincent J. Viola
Vincent ” Vinnie” Viola is the Chairman, Owner and Governor of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, the BB&T Center, and SSE’s additional operating entities. Mr. Viola also co-owns the 2017 Kentucky Derby winning horse, Always Dreaming and co-owns 2019 Breeder’s Cup Classic winner Vino Rosso.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Viola graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and subsequently completed U.S. Army Airborne, Air Assault, Infantry, and Ranger Schools. He then served as an infantry officer in the 101st Airborne Division. He graduated from the New York Law School.
After purchasing the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, Mr. Viola immediately revitalized the Panthers foundation and focused its efforts on serving veterans, growing youth hockey, investing in children’s education, and the conservation of the panther. The foundation has become a staple in South Florida and has responded to several community needs such as Hurricane Irma relief efforts.
The Florida Panthers plan to renovate War Memorial located in Fort Lauderdale bringing a modern flair to the art deco spot perched on the western end of the 93-acre Holiday Park. A new building will feature two indoor ice rinks, one becoming the team’s primary practice spot and the other will be open year-round to youth hockey leagues and public skates.
The 20th Annual Riverwalk Tribute will be held at the Riverside Hotel on Friday, March 6, 2020. Honored guests, sponsors and special ticket holders are treated to a VIP cocktail reception from 6:00pm – 7:00pm followed by an exquisite evening of cocktails, hors d’oeurvres, live entertainment and an impressive silent auction. There will also be a special presentation officially recognizing Mr. Viola as the 20th Annual Riverwalk Tribute honoree.
