Women In Distress’ 17th Annual SAFEWALK-RUN 5K will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Nova Southeastern University, Davie Campus.

Community members, corporate teams, student organizations, along with individual walkers and runners will take to the pavement to raise awareness about domestic violence and to raise funds for the much needed programs and services which Women In Distress of Broward County offers free of charge to victims of domestic violence in our community.

The goal this year is to raise $150,000 to provide support services and 2,000+ nights of emergency safe shelter to survivors and their families escaping abusive situations. Each walker and runner is asked to raise a minimum of $200 in donations (suggested goal, not mandatory). By asking friends, colleagues, family members, and neighbors to sponsor you in the event, you will be making a difference in the life of a victim of domestic violence. Teams are groups of five or more people interested in participating.

This fun event is officially timed and awards are given to top finishers. By participating in the event, you too can take a step to end domestic violence!

Registration is now open.  For more information about the event or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Eileen Trower, Events Coordinator, at 954.760.9800 ext 1245 or via email at Etrower@womenindistress.org.
