Master Plan & Projects
The Master Planning and Projects Committee gathers Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale members with an interest in advising and strategizing the physical improvement and activation of Riverwalk Park and the Riverwalk District. Its mandate is to consider the enduring needs of the Park and its users and plan for the varied and family friendly use of all parts of the Riverwalk District. The Committee advocates for sustainable design, construction, and operational practices in the Park and for raising awareness of the Riverwalk District as an integrated and proud community of residents, businesses, and visitors in a unique and cherished setting in the heart of Fort Lauderdale.
Select events are hosted by a volunteer committee that works with staff to stage a successful event. Participation is required in the identification, fundraising and performance of the event.

An important element of success is funding projects that make a difference. This committee works to identify appropriate methods to fund programs and projects that enhance Riverwalk Park and achieve the goals of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale.
The Park Committee works to assure that infrastructure and appropriate planning is in place to further enhance this valuable public asset. Through grant and partnerships, the committee seeks funding for additional enhancements for the park like recycle bins, planters, additional lighting, and other improvements.
Tree Harmony is a community program of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, in partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale, dedicated to finding new homes for existing trees. Essentially, it’s a tree matchmaking service, lining up receptor sites for healthy, donated trees. By donating a tree to Tree Harmony, you will make a positive difference along Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk Park. Your tree will be replanted in designated areas to:
- Replace trees lost to disease or natural causes along the Riverwalk Park
- Mitigate the destruction of old growth trees due to development by saving them from an untimely death and replanting them in a protected space on Riverwalk
- Provide an enhanced shade canopy for Riverwalk
More green trees mean more oxygen in Fort Lauderdale. Trees enhance the health and quality of life of our citizens while providing homes for fauna. Please note that if a receptor site along Riverwalk Park is not available or appropriate for your particular tree, we may accommodate it in another local park or public right of way.
