Men Who Dance, returns to the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for a consecutive 6th year in a row! The South-Florida based event, the largest all-male dance festival in the United States, has been critically praised for showcasing the best in multi-genre male dance. Each year, an exciting line-up of dancers from around the nation and the globe meet on stage in an explosive physical display of artistic expression meant to celebrate, challenge, deconstruct, and redefine concepts and notions of “masculinity.” Against the backdrop of extraordinary displays of bravura and thought-provoking choreographies, local, national, and international dance companies and individual artists present an exhilarating repertoire across myriad themes and genres. “The essence and purpose of Men Who Dance is not to promote any agendas, or even come to conclusions, it is about engaging in the process of deconstructing stereotypes of men, revaluate what is masculinity on and off the stage, and encourage and dare artists to explore them.” (Rafi Maldonado-Lopez, Artistic Director). Previous and returning artists include Miami City Ballet, Dance NOW! Miami, Cuban Classical Ballet, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, Tango Out, RTW Dance, Arts Ballet Theatre of South Florida, Florida Grand Opera, New Canon Chamber Collective, Syncopate Dance Collective and special guest artists.
