DESCRIPTION:History Fort Lauderdale\, proud steward of our community’s pa
 st by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitor
 s\, will launch Sábados de Tertulia (Saturday Literary Circle)\, in colla
 boration with La Caverna Foundation and Empresarias Hispanas/Hispanic Wome
 n Entrepreneur Network (EHInc)\, on January 25.  Sábados de Tertulia wil
 l be Broward County’s first and only free 100% Hispanic authors discussi
 on and meeting group conducted solely in Spanish for South Florida’s gro
 wing Hispanic community. The program coordinated and moderated by Martha G
 utiérrez-Steinkamp\, Smithsonian fellow and resident author\, will commen
 ce on the 4th Saturday of each month in the New River Inn at History Fort 
 Lauderdale.\n\nThe January 25 program begins with Cuban-born Author Martha
  Gutiérrez-Steinkamp and a discussion of “Spain the Forgotten Alliance/
 España La Alianza Olvidada\,” a historical account of Spain’s contrib
 ution to the independence of the United States that changed the course of 
 history. A Smithsonian fellow and Fulbright Specialist\, Gutiérrez-Steink
 amp is an international cultural consultant\, bilingual conference speaker
 . She is a former deputy chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts a
 nd the Experts Commission for the Preservation of the White House\, both b
 y presidential appointments\, a consultant USDOE\, advisor/translator for 
 Museum of Florida History and a liaison for the OAS Civil Society.\n\nThe 
 February 22 program will feature Author José Díaz Díaz\, a native of Co
 lombia and resident of South Florida\, hosting a discussion of the book 
 “Ser demócrata en USA. Una guía para hispanos.” The book addresses p
 ast\, present and future trends of Hispanics in the United States. Díaz D
 íaz is president of La Caverna Foundation and a professor of creative wri
 ting assisting and counseling individuals interested in pursuing a writing
  career.\n\nIn celebration of International Women’s Month\, the March 28
  program\, hosted by Empresarias Hispanas/ Hispanic Women Entrepreneur Net
 work (EHInc)\, will include a series of selected short readings by Hispani
 c business women and will be led by Eugenia Mora-Ash a native of Colombia\
 , a South Florida resident and co-founder of the organization.\n\nAuthor O
 svaldo Boscacci will host the April 25 program and discuss his work\, “M
 emorias del fracas\,” a historical global analysis of the corruption fou
 nd in present day political parties\n\nOn May 23\, Author Horacio Gioffr
 é of Argentina will present “La Villa de Los Deseos\,” a novel writ
 ten by his late father José Antonio Gioffré. The novel relates the adven
 tures of a young man from a rural area that moves and settles in Buenos Ai
 res.\n\nAttendance to Sábados de Tertulia is free on a first-come\; first
 -served basis and space is limited. For more information\, call (954) 256-

 rdale - $15 for adults\; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age
