 present a free book signing with James R. “Bud” Fraser\, Sr.\, author 
 of “Tales from Growing Up in Oakland Park and Fort Lauderdale\, Florida\
 ,” on Friday\, March 6\, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Fraser will appear at The
  New River Inn Museum of History (231 SW Second Avenue in Fort Lauderdale)
 . His Broward appearance is part of History Fort Lauderdale’s “Florida
  Scribes &amp\; Stories\,” a meet the author series that offers literary
  and history enthusiasts a chance to speak with local authors\, purchase t
 heir latest releases and have them signed.\n\nFraser\, a native-born Flori
 dian who graduated from Stranahan High School in 1952\, spent his early ye
 ars along the Atlantic Ocean and coastal South Florida embarking on many u
 nforgettable adventures with friends and family - fishing\, swimming\, boa
 ting\, camping and exploring. He watched the region grow from the late 193
 0s through the early 1950s - from rural\, undeveloped land with some famil
 y farms to the beginning of the metropolitan area it is today. His family 
 moved to Lake City after he graduated high school.\n\nThrough his self-pub
 lished book\, “Tales from Growing Up in Oakland Park and Fort Lauderdale
 \, Florida\,” he shares these memorable experiences and offers rare glim
 pses and insight into local history.\n\nBrian L. Polk\, editor and Florida
  historian writes\, “Bud is a wonderful storyteller\, and he uses detail
 ed\, descriptive writing that will transport you back to a similar time du
