DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with Gold Coast Jazz Society: Jazz Ref
 lections featuring Nicole Yarling\n\nWe'll be hosting stellar jazz vocalis
 t and violinist Nicole Yarling along with members of the Gold Coast Jazz S
 ociety Band. This free concert is presented by the Gold Coast Jazz Society
 \, in honor of Black History Month.\n\nYarling is a violinist\, singer and
  teacher born in Brooklyn\, New York\, to a musical family in which her fa
 ther played jazz organ and piano. Aside from the familial influences\, Nic
 ole's education is extensive\, ranging from a B.A. in music from Baruch Co
 llege to a master’s in music education at Columbia University\, as well 
 as private training in composition\, arranging\, voice and violin.\n\nShe 
 was “discovered” by the iconic singer Joe Williams\, and she worked wi
 th him on her 1998 album Joe Williams Presents Nicole Yarling at the Manch
 ester Craftsmen's Guild\, which was to be his last recording before his de
 ath. Yarling has also collaborated with Dizzy Gillespie\, KC &amp\; The Su
 nshine Band and Albert Lee\, and was a featured soloist for three years on
  tour with Jimmy Buffet. She also participated on Buffet's platinum-sellin
 g album\, Fruit Cakes\, and then went on to do eight worldwide tours with 
 her own project\, Little Nicky and the Slicks.\n\nThe Gold Coast Jazz Soci
 ety has been a major presenter of jazz concerts\, jazz education and jazz 
 outreach programs in Broward County since 1992. The mission of the organiz
 ation is to perpetuate and advance the cultural art form of jazz through p
 erformances\, education\, and outreach activities.\n\nClick here for more
