Community Foundation of Broward, the Jewish Community Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Broward County and United Way of Broward County are joining together to celebrate the 20th year of providing in-depth best practices seminars to local tax and estate professionals by holding the 20th Annual Joint Tax & Estate Planning Seminar on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Davie from 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. The seminar is a vital educational forum for attorneys, certified public accountants, investment consultants, financial advisors, and business professionals throughout Broward County.

This year’s Joint Tax Seminar will build on a tradition by offering a cutting-edge presentation by a nationally recognized speaker, a superior educational experience and prime networking opportunities. The featured guest speaker will be Sam Donaldson, JD, LL.M, Professor of Law at Georgia State University. As keynote speaker, Donaldson will present “Solving Your Client’s Puzzle: Tax and Estate Planning Amidst Uncertainty” where he will provide strategies that make sense in the current climate, a preview of upcoming tax legislation, a brief look at the federal income and transfer tax landscape, a look at recent cases of rulings of interest and a review of new income tax rules for 2021.

Professor Donaldson is an Academic Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a member of the Bar in Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. Among his scholarly works, he is a co-author of the popular West casebook, Federal Income Tax: A Contemporary Approach, and a co-author of the Price on Contemporary Estate Planning treatise published by Wolters Kluwer. Professor Donaldson has served as the Harry R. Horrow Visiting Professor of International Law at Northwestern University and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

More than 350 legal and financial professionals are expected to attend the event which is recognized as South Florida’s premier Tax and Estate Planning Event. The Joint Tax Seminar will begin with a light breakfast at Nova Southeastern and will be followed by the seminar at the Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center, also on the NSU Campus. An option to attend remotely is planned. Following the seminar there will be an opportunity to mix and mingle with Donaldson, sponsors and other attendees.
