Water Taxi Pub Crawl
For just $15 a head, Water Taxi Pub Crawl is affordable and fun! Every Thursday evening at 7 pm, Water Taxi departs from their base at 651 Seabreeze Boulevard for a 30-minute, narrated trip up New River to Las Olas Riverfront. Twelve great pubs and restaurants on SW 2 Street and at Las Olas Riverfront welcome your group with half-priced appetizers, drinks, music and fun. You will then reboard at 9 pm for a ride to Las Olas Boulevard for two more hours of "crawling" at six of the Boulevard's finest establishments. Your return trip to the beach starts at 11:15 pm. ATOM Has Arrived
Newly arrived tenants at 100 East Broward Boulevard, the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine (ATOM) is a non-profit licensed independent college of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. ATOM is licensed to confer Bachelor's degrees in public health and Master's degrees in Oriental Medicine. ATOM has been awarded the "Best Curriculum of 2002" by the Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation and is a sister college of the world-renowned Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China.
In addition, the new facility contains a School Clinic and a Wellness Center to serve the community. ATOM School Clinic offers acupuncture and natural medicinal herbal treatments to patients suffering from all sorts of chronic illnesses ranging from common pains, drug addictions, weight loss, arthritis, facial or semi-paralysis, frozen shoulder, bronchitis, migraines, backaches, sprains, stomach disorders, AIDS and cancers.
ATOM Wellness Center provides the general public with knowledge and skills in traditional Chinese self-practice healing systems for the prevention and treatment of ailments. The programs and classes offered will include Ancient Chinese Qigong Therapy (movements, meditation, breathing exercises, and acupressure), Tai Chi, Chinese Food Therapy and Self-Practice Acupuncture (with your fingers). Free Children's Summer Storytelling at Stranahan House
School-aged children 6 - 12 are invited to join animated and fun storytelling led by local author Bill Sydnor based on his books Mitchell's Magical Day with Frank and Ivy Stranahan and Mitchell's Magical Day on the River. Both books take a look at city founders Frank and Ivy Stranahan and what life was like in Fort Lauderdale in the early 1900s as seen through the eyes of a child. Held at Historic Stranahan House, the series is free, but reservations are required. Dates are June 24, July 15, July 29 and August 11 at 10 am. For more information, call (954) 524-4736.

The Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale Trust congratulates Riverwalk Board Member Al Padrón of PL & P Advertising for being selected as the agency of record for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Al and his firm have donated graphic services to the Riverwalk Trust over the last year, and we greatly appreciate their assistance.
The Broward Cultural Affairs Council recently announced the appointment of Chris Wren to the Council's Public Art and Design Committee (PAD). Wren currently serves as the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority and is professionally focused on contributing to the economic vitality and physical development of urban areas.
The Public Art and Design Committee, created in 1976, is designed to oversee the goals and mission of the Public Art and Design Program. The primary goals being: to create a better visual environment for the citizens of Broward County; to integrate the design work of artists into the development of county capital construction projects, and to promote tourism and economic vitality of the County through the enhancement of public places.
Our hats also go off to Riverwalk 100 Member Mark Budwig of S. Mark Graphics Florida, Inc. for being honored by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce as Small Business Person of the Year. Mark, a Trustee Member of the Chamber, is also on the Board of Directors and Board of Governors. He and his firm have given many hours of time to the community and particularly the Chamber.
Finally, we owe great thanks to Riverwalk Board Member Kelley Shanley of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for assisting us with organizational efficiency. Kelley serves as an inspiration to us all in the area of community service and thoughtful leadership.
